Your essay will be 4 paragraphs:

1. An introduction that argues that the film adaptation is NOT a good adaptation of the novel (see example to the right).

2. A paragraph that begins: "The plot of the novel, How I Live Now, differs from the storyline of the film in several important ways." (This was paragraph 1 classwork from Thursday and Friday)

3. A paragraph that begins: "The depiction of the main character, Daisy in the novel, How I Live Now, differs from how she is portrayed the film." (This was paragraph 2 classwork from Thursday and Friday)

4. A fourth paragraph:
For your fourth paragraph, you must do web research using the following phrases: 
a. Why are films different from books,
b. why are movies different from books,
c. why are books better than the movie version,
d. why are books better than the film version,
e. why does Hollywood change the books,
f. why do directors change the books. 


Then, summarize your research, and re-write your findings in your own words. Then, give your opinion on WHY the changes were made for the film version of How I Live Now. Finally, end with a summary of your overall opinion of the changes, and how they affected you, the viewer.

Late Assignments:

Classroom lectures are often presented on EdPuzzle, but all necessary links are posted on Google Classroom.

Assignments are due at 11:59 pm on due date. Unexcused lateness of assignments will be penalized at 10 percent per day late (for example, an assignment that is two days late will have a maximum grade of 80, or B-). After 9 days the assignment is worth zero points. Learners are welcome to submit assignments more than 9 days late as Merit Assignments, but not for class credit.
