Writing Wednesday:
Letter to a fictional character.

The Duchess of Windsor has decided to move to your block in Philadelphia.

1. Write a letter to her informing her of what she is to expect in her new home, and how things might be different. Remember, she is royalty and is used to living in a palace in England.

Type a 1-2 page letter, or on Loose Leaf Paper, write a 2-3 page letter. Here are some ideas to include:

A salutation, such as “Dear Lady Elizabeth, Duchess of Windsor . . .”

 A description of yourself

A description of the houses on your street – including of her new house

A description of her new neighbors, including which ones are nice, and which ones to avoid (explain why)

A description of the many positive things about her new neighborhood

Which businesses to avoid or use in her new neighborhood

Which restaurants to dine in, and what to order (consider that she might be unfamiliar with American food)

What public transportation to take, and where to go (How might she get to the best mall, or South Street?)

Your household, including its family members

Which parts of the neighborhood to avoid, and why

Which schools she might end up sending her children to

2. Email the letter to me - icflamm@sof.philasd.org
