A Letter to Marjane

1. Re-read pages 3, 14, 15, 29,36, 37, 51, 63, 66, 74, 86, 87, 102, 108, 125, 132, 133, 142, 153.

2. Write a Five-Paragraph Letter to Marjane, arguing that she should 
move to Philadelphia.

a. First Paragraph: Salutation (“Dear Marjane”), description of 
yourself (age, name, status, location), introduction of the argument (that she should leave Tehran
and move to Philadelphia). 

b. Second Paragraph: First few general reasons why Marjane should 
leave Tehran, using 
evidence from pages 3, 14, 15, 29,36, 37, 51, 63, 66, 74, 86, 87, 102, 108, 125, 132, 133, 142, 
and 153.

c. Third Paragraph: Second general reason: a positive comparison 
between Tehran and Philadelphia, using your own experience and 
evidence from the pages listed above.

d. Fourth Paragraph: Third general reason: a description of the 
things about Philadelphia that Marjane would like about her new home.

e. Fifth Paragraph: Conclusion and convincing, uplifting, 
message . . . signature.
